Key strengths: Great off-road ability
Areas for improvement: Sat Nav
I have owned 5 Range Rovers from 1990 and without doubt this is the best yet! (The fuel economy aside) For such a heavy car the performance is superb lending itself to both on and off road driving perfectly - with power enough to out pull virtually all other off roaders (the mighty Land Cruiser diesel aside!)
The looks are not to everyones taste, mine included, but I find that not washing it helps disguise the 'interesting' design!
I am one of the few people who uses this machine off-road on a regular basis and can report that it really will climb every mountain and forge every stream, including military exercise areas in the Brecon Beacons (Wales)
The Power plant is refined yet powerful, so powerful in fact that the traction control system is sometime forced to over-regulate the power delivery to the four wheels giving light to an annoying power drop-off while off road (you can turn it off however!)
From a cost point of view however the Vogue makes little sense - the 3.0 Liter Disel is refined and far cheaper - I'm not looking forward to the huge loss I'm going to suffer while trading this car in after 3 years of heavy use!
The Sat Nav system failed 2 days after taking delivery of the car - this was replaced by Land Rover, it took 2 weeks for the parts to arrive however. The running costs for Land-rover Range rover 4.4 V8 Automatic are high
