Small cars are Fiat's speciality, the Panda underlining that the Italian hasn't lost its magic in building diminutive cars. The Idea builds on this, based on the platform of the Punto it slots above the Panda and Punto ranges and should provide Fiat customers a neat stepping-stone up the range. Competing against models like Vauxhall's Meriva it's a good looking package, the Giugiaro penned lines giving it a classy, almost upmarket style that's not without character despite its boxy proportions.
