Areas for improvement: Electrics, cooling fan
A joy to drive. Fast with awesome handling... very, very comfortable. I have been able to save a lot of money by buying parts on eBay. The light switch for exampleis 385.00 at the dealer, but only 99.00 on eBay. I just like the way the car looks. It still turns heads. Very comfortable for long drives. By 1985, the XJ6 was pretty much sorted out. I have found it to reliable. They are so cheap to buy and the availability of parts makes them not so terribly expensive to run, no matter what people say about them... Hey if you want to enjoy driving again and are bored with the cold soulless Japanese products...go for it!!
Plenty has gone wrong. The light switch failed leaving me with no head lights. The fuel tank switch over has failed, so I only use one tank. Several lights had to be replaced. Mechanically the car is quite sound.
The running costs for Jaguar XJ 4.2 liter inline 6 Automatic are normal
