Review Hyundai Elantra 2.0 Automatic 2006

Key strengths: Good all rounder
Areas for improvement: Engine noise and lack of interior space
I have owned a 2003 Sonata and a 2005 Tucson prior to this car. I found it time to look into something with a little better than the 22 MPG I was getting with my v6 Tucson. My main concerns of stepping down to a 4 cyl. were noise when I was accelerating, Engine noise at highways speeds (65-75), and ride quality.Motorway ride has been suprisingly good. Quiet, smooth and handles most minor potholes fairly smoothly. Deep ones will wake you up a bit, but that's to be expected in a smaller car.
Speaking of that, I was shocked when I bought this car on how much interior room is in this vehicle. It Appears about 3-4 inches shorter than my 2003 Sonata I traded in, but it has more leg room in back that the bigger Sonata did. It also has more head room, even with the sunroof. The trunk is best in class for this size vehicle and has a low lift over for those of us on the back side of their 40's.
Seats are comfortable and firm enough to support, without feeling too stiff or hard. Sound system is great.
Where I really am enjoying this car the most is when I get to do some city driving. It handles like a dream in the supermarket park lot, has enough power to feel sporty if you want to take some back roads in the country although it is a little soft in the suspension with too much body roll to really feel confident enough to push it to it's limits.
Seems Hyundai is getting it done right in all the models I've tried so far.
